D. Ray McClellan
Acclaimed for "a remarkable technique, tone and lyricism", clarinetist D. Ray McClellan is currently Associate Professor of Clarinet at The University of Georgia and a member of the Georgia Woodwind Quintet.  He appeared as soloist with “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, Symphony Orchestra of Goiania in Brazil, The Augusta Symphony, The Queens Philharmonic, The Athens Symphony, and The Little Rock Wind Symphony and has performed internationally in Canada, Taiwan, Japan, Italy, Brazil, Kenya and Tanzania.  Currently the principal clarinetist of the Savannah Sinfonietta, he has performed as guest principal clarinetist with the Augusta Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Alexandria Symphony, and the Garden State Philharmonic.  An avid chamber musician, Mr. McClellan performed with The Ying Quartet, the Magellen Quartet and members of the Maia Quartet. His discography includes Sunlight and Shadows, with the Georgia Woodwind Quartet, and two new releases in 2008 will include his solo disc with ACA Digital Recordings and a recording with Arco Chamber Orchestra on Phoenix USA.  Mr. McClellan taught at James Madison University and Henderson State University and holds three degrees from The Juilliard School where he studied with world-renowned pedagogue David Weber.  He is an Artist for Buffet Crampon clarinets, enjoys tennis and lives in Athens, Georgia with his wife and four children.
